Mods List for Mass Effect 2

**I need someone who knows about editing Coalesced.ini to help get some of the mods below updated for 1.01. I've contacted their developers and have not gotten any response. If you can help, please IM or email me. You will be credited for your work. Thank you!**

Please note: I do not provide support for these mods, I'm just Linking to them to show what's out there. If you email or IM me asking about them, I'll pretty much tell you "I don't know, contact the developer." :) If you would like to submit a mod, please scroll to the bottom of this page. I am happy to host OR to Link to your mods. I get a LOT of hits on this page, so if you'd like your mod to get more traffic, this might be a good place to have it! :)
If I've linked to your mod and you'd rather me not, please let me know via E-mail.

INFORMATION & RESOURCES

Here's a handy thread that talks about modifying Coalesced.ini
Active Modding Thread on Bioware Social Site

Bioware Texture Modders Group
Dedicated Mass Effect 2 Modders forum

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to take screenshots in-game and don't have Fraps, bind some key to the "shot" command by doing the following:
Go to your Mass Effect 2 Install Dir, then >BioGame\Config\PC\Cooked
Make a backup of Coalesced.ini
Open Coalesced.ini and just add:

Bindings=( Name="F8", Command="shot" )
This will bind Screenshot to the F8 key. Feel free to use a different key if you'd like

Screenshots are stored in My Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\BIOGame\Screenshots (not in Mass Effect 2\Screenshots, for some reason). Also, they're saved as .BMP.

Thanks to FronzelNeekburm for this information!
Be sure to always make a backup of Coalesced.ini before modifying it.

TOOLS

gibbed's Save Editor (Updated 2/10/10)

NOTE: This is an EARLY RELEASE and is NOT very user friendly yet.

SUMMARY:
Makes more stuff editable, not very user friendly but now you can play directly with the head morph data (and other data). Plot data is now editable.

Note: editing face code does not change the face, if you want a new face, either edit the head morph data under Squad > Player > Appearance > Head Morph, or import a head morph from another save the Toolbox tab.

CONTACT:
Check for updates and contact gibbed here.

OTHER
Okogawa has written a guide to using the editor here!

Gibbed's Audio Extractor

Largely untested, but it won't destroy your Mass Effect 2 install.

For best results, click @, press enter (for default 'shit'). Add to music player, play randomly looped.

There are likely to be some files that give errors when converting with ww2ogg, I have not looked at this yet. Also, the information was built using an english installation of Mass Effect 2, other installs may encounter problems (that's why I have that handy dandy Validate option).

StrudelMan's Alternative Outfits and Armor WITH ammo Regen For ME2 1.00
StrudelMan's Alternative Outfits and Armor WITHOUT ammo Regen For ME2 1.00

SUMMARY
Tired of your Shepard running around the ship looking like a Cerberus sellout? This Coalesced.ini adds in dozens of different outfits and accessories for your Shepard, male or female, to wear both on the Normandy and off, including your old Alliance casual uniform!

Please note if you use the mod WITH ammo regen it will allow your ammo to regen slowly in combat. At the Cerebus base at the beginning of a new game you will need to empty your clip to reload in order to get out of the first room.

Here are some example screenshots:
Female Casual Outfits
Female Armored Outfits
Male Casual Outfits
Male Armored Outfits

"For armor, it adds hats, accessories, and the ability to wear the standard casual outfits when out in the field. The casual outfits are available under the 'torso' armor choice. Of course, the leg, armor, and shoulder armor will still be there on top of your dress uniform (or whatever), so I added extra choices for those which remove them.

UNFORTUNATELY, if the game isn't given a valid model to display for at least one of leg, arm, and shoulder armor, it freaks out and displays you in standard armor. So I added the accessories to the 'shoulders' slot; there's various visors, glasses, comm sets, and earrings under there, so you can take off the shoulder pads and still have the game cooperate."

INSTALLATION:
1) Download the mod
2) Go to your Mass Effect 2 Install Dir, then >BioGame\Config\PC\Cooked
3) MAKE A BACKUP OF Coalesced.ini
4) Move or paste "Coalesced.ini" from your download into the directory
Note: You can only have one Coalesced.ini file active at a time.

UNINSTALLATION:
Restore the original "Coalesced.ini" and thats all

Maxatv's Super Mod (v1.01)

The above .zip contains both the Coalesced.ini version and ME2 Mod Manager version.

This is an update of ModB by Mith83 plus a few extras:
-Keybindings cheats
-Gives every class soldiers loadout
-Includes Strudel Man's outfits
-Unlocks all armor at start
-Changes a few companions loadout to give them assault rifles
-Infinite stamina
-Reload maxes out ammo and nuke gun only uses 1% to fire (haven't tested that but should work everything else does )

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dog kisser's Ammo Mod (preliminary version) (ME2 v. 1.00)
Have not heard from DogKisser, I need someone to help update this mod for v1.01!

SUMMARY:
This mod restores Mass Effect 2 to the hybrid ammo system seen in some of the earlier preview videos: you can fire until you run out of ammo and eject your clip like in this game, but you can also sit and have it recover with time.

Note that in this version there is no longer a way to manually reload your weapon, but there is still tactical benefit in that you can choose to either reload a clip or wait a bit for it to reload. Even with no clips in your weapon, the slow reload will still work - but will still be less effective than simply finding a new clip.

INSTALLATION:
- Drop this in your Mass Effect 2 install folder and it should work from there

UNINSTALLATION:
- Head to Mass Effect 2\BioGame\Config\Pc\Cooked and delete Coalesced.ini, then rename the included backup to Coalesced.ini, and you're golden.

FUTURE PLANS/CONTACT:
- This mod makes many weapons reaaaally unbalanced, especially those with high ammo capacities like the SMG - it simply replenishes ammo too fast, and that can't be slowed down without crippling other guns. Possible workarounds would be to lower SMG ammo capacity or to increase it for other guns. Tell me what you think.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Link)Mass Effect 2 Biotics and Tech Powers Unleashed - will allow all powers (biotics/tech) to work even if the target has shields/armor.
